Kawaiahaʻo Church School's Kama'iki Program is thoughtfully designed to provide a gentle and nurturing transition from home to school for young children. This program is specifically tailored for children ages 2-3 years old, offering a supportive environment where they can begin to explore new routines, develop social skills, and engage in age-appropriate activities.
A key feature of the Kama'iki Program is that it also assists with toilet training, ensuring children feel confident and supported as they master this important milestone. Our caring and experienced staff work closely with each child to provide a smooth and positive transition into school life, all while fostering a love of learning and discovery.
We believe that every child is unique, and we aim to meet each child's individual needs, creating a warm and welcoming space for both children and families.
Kamali'i Program (Primary/Pre-School)

Primary Program (Ages 3-5)
Our academically enriched program for children ages 3-5 is designed to foster a strong foundation across key developmental areas, including:
- Math: Early number sense, patterns, shapes, and basic problem-solving.
- Literacy: Phonics, letter recognition, pre-writing skills, and early reading.
- Science: Hands-on exploration of basic scientific concepts and the natural world.
- History and Geography: Introduction to concepts of time, place, and community.
- Art: Creative expression through a variety of mediums, encouraging imagination.
- Music: Development of rhythm, listening skills, and appreciation for sound.
In order to participate in this program, children must be fully toilet-trained. This ensures they are ready to engage in the structured classroom activities and enjoy a positive, independent learning experience.
KINDERGARTEN
(5-6 years old)
t Kawaiahaʻo Church School, families have the option to choose between our Montessori Primary or Dual Language programs for children ages 3-6, or they may opt for our Kindergarten Program. This program is specifically designed for children who turn 5 on or after July 31st and serves as an important stepping stone to our Elementary Program.
Our Kindergarten Program combines the best of Montessori teaching with the structure of traditional classroom styles, offering a balanced approach that supports both independent learning and guided instruction. Students benefit from Montessori's hands-on, child-centered philosophy, while also utilizing textbooks as an additional resource for foundational academic skills.
This unique program is designed to bridge the gap between early childhood education and the more structured learning environment of elementary school. It provides a solid foundation in key areas like literacy, math, science, and social studies, while fostering a love for learning and preparing children for the next phase of their academic journey into both public and private schools.
