(all students should be in school by 8am for Piko)

Kama Iki | Ages 2–3
Kawaiahaʻo Church School’s Kama Iki program offers a gentle and nurturing transition from home to school for children beginning at 24 months of age.
For many keiki, this is their first experience in a classroom setting, so our teachers work closely with families to help each child build trust, confidence, and comfort as they adjust to their new environment.
Our teachers support each child’s natural development through a respectful and encouraging approach that promotes independence, self-help skills, social development, and toilet learning. During these important early years, keiki begin building confidence, forming friendships, developing classroom routines, and discovering their own approach to learning.
Inspired by Montessori principles, the classroom is thoughtfully arranged with age-appropriate activities that children can explore and choose independently. Materials introduce concepts such as sequencing, shape, movement, sound, coordination, and practical life skills while encouraging curiosity and concentration.
As each child grows, classroom experiences are adapted to support their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development, allowing every keiki to progress at an appropriate and individual pace.
Kamaliʻi | Ages 3–6
Kawaiahaʻo Church School’s Kamaliʻi program is thoughtfully designed around Montessori principles and practices to nurture each child’s natural curiosity, independence, and desire to learn.
Children ages 3 to 5 engage in a rich learning environment within a structured and supportive classroom community. Carefully selected materials and hands-on experiences encourage the development of order, concentration, coordination, problem-solving, creativity, and independence while building a strong foundation in early literacy, mathematics, science, art, and practical life skills.
Each keiki is valued as an individual. Our teachers build meaningful relationships with their students and provide guidance based on each child’s developmental needs, strengths, and learning pace.
With a foundation of respect, aloha, patience, responsibility, and understanding, children develop the confidence and skills needed to become capable, independent learners and to transition successfully into their next educational setting.
Extra Curricular Programs
Keiki Cartwheels
Monday Mornings (by age group)
9:15 a.m., 10:00a.m., and 10:45 a.m.
Sessions include tumbling, balance beam, swinging bars, creative movement, motor development activities and group games.
Hawai'i Dance Bomb
Wednesday Mornings
9:35am - 10:05am
An interactive dance class that encourages children with fun props, simple dance moves and energetic movement.
Soccer Shots
Thursday Mornings (By Age Group)
9 a.m. (1-3 yrs) & 9:35 a.m. (3-6 yrs)
