Kama iki (Year Round Program)

Kawaiahaʻo Church School’s 2-3 year old classroom offers a gentle transition from home to school, welcoming children starting at 24 months on an exciting journey. With close collaboration between parents and teachers, children gradually separate from their parents in a supportive environment that eases any initial anxiety.

Our teachers foster each child’s natural development with a respectful and gentle approach, emphasizing the encouragement of independence, including toilet-training. At this stage, toddlers begin building the foundation of who they will become, shaping their character, self-esteem, purpose, social skills, and approach to learning.

The classroom is arranged with activities positioned around the room for toddlers to explore and choose independently. These materials introduce concepts like sequence, form, shape, movement, and sound, and are adjusted as each child grows physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
