Papa Kalo (Dual Language Class)
Led by Aunty Kahaku, Papa Kalo offers a rich learning environment grounded in Montessori practice, Hawaiian culture, and a strong sense of place and community.
Fluent in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and serving as a deacon of Kawaiahaʻo Church, Aunty Kahaku brings a depth of ʻike to her students that extends beyond the classroom. Her teaching reflects a strong background in Hawaiian history, cultural traditions, and the significance of Kawaiahaʻo Church within our community.
With many years of experience in childcare, Aunty Kahaku supports her students as they grow in independence, confidence, responsibility, and respect for others. She also comes from a family deeply engaged in cultural and church leadership, further enriching the values and knowledge she shares with her keiki.
Through hands-on learning, cultural connection, and meaningful classroom experiences, Papa Kalo encourages each child to understand not only how to learn independently, but also how to recognize their connection to their community, culture, and the generations who came before them.
Papa Lehua
Led by Aunty Rahel, provides a nurturing and engaging environment where our Kamaliʻi continue building independence, confidence, and strong relationships with their classmates and teachers.
Our Papa Lehua classroom celebrates the diverse cultures, languages, and experiences each keiki brings to school. Through hands-on learning, meaningful routines, and opportunities to explore, create, communicate, and work together, children strengthen the social, emotional, academic, and practical skills that prepare them for their next stage of learning.
Rooted in the values and traditions of Kawaiahaʻo Church School, Papa Lehua encourages each keiki to grow with aloha, respect, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging within our school ʻohana.
