Join Us for the 50th Anniversary Walk-A-Thon Celebration! 🎉

This year, we’re turning back the clock to the 70s and 80s—a timeless era full of energy and style—to celebrate 50 years of Kawaiahaʻo Church School! Our theme is all about strengthening our culture, celebrating our kula, and dancing our hearts out.

Families are invited to dress up for our “Most Spirited Family” contest—bonus points if you create a dance routine! Groove to classic hits with music and dance hosted by Hawaii Dance Bomb, and enjoy demo classes led by our very own Soccer Shots Oahu team.

Keep cool with refreshing slushes and ice cream from Sugar HI, and capture the memories at our fun photo booth provided by Perfect Portraits Hawaii. Each class will enjoy exciting activity stations including temporary tattoos, obstacle courses, bubble fun, Jack-O’-Lantern bean bag toss, and a paper airplane station.

Invite your friends, family, grandparents, aunts, and uncles to participate in person & cheer on your keiki, sponsoring them $ per minute of participation. Amazing prizes await! Thanks to our generous donors, lucky participants could win prizes like a free season of Soccer Shots and beautiful items from alumni Lexbreezy Hawaii, and students who raise the most money will receive tuition discounts.

Don’t miss this chance to get your groove on, celebrate 50 years, and support our keiki. Let’s dance, laugh, and boogie our way to an unforgettable Walk-A-Thon!

The Kaleihiwa Parent Organization (KPO) is the essential backbone of Kawaiahaʻo Church School. Centered in aloha and service, our KPO partners with school leadership to create a positive influence on every child’s education while uplifting our staff and supporting the mission of Kawaiahaʻo Church.

Through their time, talents, and spiritual gifts, KPO members bring our school community to life—organizing meaningful, family-oriented activities and events that nurture faith, fellowship and joy. Kawaiahaʻo Church School offers Summer School (Kula Kauwela) exclusively through our Kamaliʻi Program during the months of June and July.

  • Priority enrollment is given to current KCS students on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Applications for the public will be available in March 2026.
  • Before and After School Care are separate programs; students must be enrolled in Summer School if care is needed during these sessions.
  • Kama Iki Program (2–3 years old) students do not need to register, as their program runs year-round and concludes July 31, 2026.
  • Please note: The Dual Language Program is not offered during the summer.

]]> Lā Lunalilo https://www.kawaiahaoschool.org/2023/01/31/la-lunalilo-5/ Wed, 01 Feb 2023 06:40:06 +0000 https://www.kawaiahaoschool.org/?p=4135 At Kawaiahaʻo Church School, we proudly celebrate Lā Lunalilo, the birthday of King William Charles Lunalilo, Hawaiʻi’s first elected monarch and a beloved aliʻi known for his humility, aloha, and dedication to his people.

Born on January 31, 1835, King Lunalilo was a member of the Kamehameha lineage, a devout Christian, and a faithful member of Kawaiahaʻo Church. He was affectionately called “Ke Aliʻi o nā Kānaka” – The People’s King – because of his deep compassion and commitment to serve all kānaka with fairness and love.

His legacy includes the founding of Lunalilo Home, which he established to care for elderly Native Hawaiians—a lasting symbol of his aloha and kuleana.

At Kawaiahaʻo Church School, we honor his life and values with a special observance each year, instilling in our haumāna the guiding principles of kuleana, aloha, and alakaʻi lawelawe (servant leadership).

In 2026, we will celebrate Lā Lunalilo on Friday, January 30, 2026, with school-wide cultural activities and learning experiences to honor and perpetuate his memory.
